One World One Heart Giveaway

2/16/10- Prizes have been sent. Happy Gardening!

2/15/10- I have selected the winners. Congrats! It has been so much fun meeting everyone. I sure enjoyed the magic carpet ride!

1/26/10 update: for every 100 entries, I will be adding another prize.

Gift # 1: One year subscription to the Heirloom Gardener Magazine (added January 25). Won by Judy

Gift # 2: One 15 gallon fabric "Smart Pot". Perfect for growing potatoes above ground even if you have little space (added January 27). Won by Theresa

Gift # 3: A single sample copy of Heirloom Gardener Magazine (Added February 3). Won by Crystal

I enjoy chatting with gardeners around the world and learning more about them and what they grow. Garden blogging is a great way to bring people together who might not ordinarily meet. That fits well with the goals of The One World One Heart event which seeks to bring bloggers together. It is a great chance to meet people and the giveaways are an added bonus.

So on to my giveaway in this event: The Heirloom Gardener magazine is a virtual magic carpet ride around the world. It features articles on an intriguing international collection of seeds and plants. So it seems like a good gift to share with one lucky winner in my little corner of the One World One Heart event and this year's Magic Carpet theme. I find each issue of this magazine to be an adventure and would love to give a one year (4 issue) subscription to one person anywhere in the world (I don't have any ties to this magazine, I just enjoy reading it!). The winner will be selected at random on February 14 at midnight and announced on February 15, 2010.

All you need to do is comment below and include a link or e-mail address so I can contact the winner. It would be fun if you write something about your gardening experiences in your comment but it is not required. The Heirloom Gardener is a fun read whether you have never gardened or if you are a pro. Grow some unique flowers, herbs or vegetables and have your own adventure.

You may also enjoy visiting the One World One Heart link to find a world of interesting blogs.

A whole subscription - how wonderful. I tried heirloom plants last year and didn't have great success but then it was my first year. I'm always willing to try again LOL Hope you have time to stop by my blog too.

I am a avid lover of all things heirloom for my garden. I see you also purchase seed from Baker Creek. They have an amazing catalog, don't they? It's so nice to meet another gardener and I look forward to coming back again.

Please do not enter me in the contest. I would rather have someone who is new to heirloom seeds win your generous gift. We have got to share with others how important it is to grow organically and sew heirloom seeds. So many folks really don't know the difference between a seed. .and an heirloom seed. I really need to do a post about this soon. I have enjoyed my visit.

My attempts at gardening have not fared so well. It seems when I don't try, things grow better. Quite a few years ago I bought a clamadis (no idea how to spell that) at a local plant sale, I planted it in the ground and walked away, it flourished. My mother bought a couple more of them a year later, and tended to them often. They died.
I can't explain it, but my flower is looking good.

Hello Chris, pleased to meet you. Your give away presents are great. The smartpot is an awesome space saving device. I got a garden for the first time 2 years ago and had so much fun with it. I think the snow has killed my angelica and loveage, time will tell, but as a rule, the soil is so acid from the conifers above and the shade make it difficult to grow much on anything except the rose arch which offers height. I have een told that blueberries do well in shade, so may try them for a dyepot...

I am so delighted to see a garden blog! How nice to have a garden-y giveaway! I live in the hot day/cold night, dry, sandy soil desert of New Mexico. Native Plants is the passage to gardening here. Fortunately we have nurseries that specialize in xeric plants. I do love gardening. Thanks for being on OWOH.

I love gardening, so imagine my delight when I came upon your blog through the OWOH event! I am so excited to find it that I've signed up to follow! I'm a relatively new gardener (of five years) and always looking for others with whom to share ideas, tips and the joy of gardening! Your giveaway is WONDERFUL, and I would love to win the subscription (boy, could I use that!) and the smart pot! These are fabulous things to offer! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and thank you so much for the opportunity to win. Hope you'll stop by and visit my blog sometime in the near future!

Best wishes and thank you!

I would love the chance to win your giveaway. I'm an avid gardener living in the Central Florida area. If it can grow I want to try it! I grow vegetables, herbs and flowers from seed. Pretty good luck here because our climate doesn't have the harsh winter season, and I'm lucky enough to live on a piece of property that has very rich soil. I love to watch things grow, and then not only enjoy them myself but also share them with friends and neighbors :)

I have loved gardening ever since I was tiny helping my Mum and Granny growing vegetables and flowers in their garden. Now that I sadly do not have them in my life anymore gardening is a form of connection with them and my memories. Coming from England I love cottage gardens, bursting with old fashioned roses, scent and colours. This magazine looks like a dream, I have never heard of it, so lovely to meet you. HUGS, Catherine x

I'm happy to have found your blog. What a wonderful place! And with 3 feet of snow outside, it gives me some hope.

My son, though only 9, is becoming quite a gardening enthusiast . . . but he hates potatoes. Weird, but a wonderful kid.

Looking forward to see you more, and thanks for your wonderful offerings.
