Happy Birthday

It can't be just a coincidence that the beginning of my potato harvest occurs within one week of the birthdays of the only 2 guys I know that would consider mashed potatoes to be a great birthday gift!

These are the adora potatoes and they are delicious. They have been especially good baked and as oven fries. Next week they will be making a short trip from the garden to fire-pit with just a brief stop at the water hose.

The weather has been a bit cool for the peppers and tomatoes but it has been nice to get some rain. We have picked the first two Autumn Britten raspberries and they are wonderful. Hopefully there will be many more to come. We put in 25 plants and 22 of them look like they are doing very well.

Great looking potatoes.

My birthday is in a couple of weeks also, but mashed potatoes as a gift - I don't think so! Actually I already bought my gift so I'd get what I want - a grain mill attachment for my KitchenAid.

I'm waiting to open my packages until the actual day. I'm expecting a positive dearth of potatoes - mashed or otherwise - in with everything else. I hope that the D-man enjoys them in my place. Put a raspberry on top of the mound for color.

Have you tried a raspberry wine-based gravy for the mashed potatoes yet?

I've noticed a real slow down in my veggie growing. I have no tomatoes that are ripening and the zucchini isn't coming in as quickly. I do believe it's from lack of warm/hot weather.

The raspberries sound delicious. I found some wild raspberries growing in the woods next to our house. I was so excited, now I just need to go and pick them all before the animals get them.

Thanks for visiting!
