It will be nice to have some time to get out into the garden. However, the lows here may be close to freezing tonight so I'm not going to put tomatoes, peppers, melons and squash out yet. I hope things will warm up next week. The front yard has the scent of lilacs while the fragrance of clove currants is wonderful in the back yard. The alpine strawberry plants you see in the picture are doing well. They are a bit tedious to pick but are a wonderful treat. Even though it is still early in the season, we have been able to harvest lovage, baby greens, asparagus and rhubarb. We are even thinking of "harvesting" the lilacs after having seeing a recipe for lilac wine. Sounds good or too weird to try?

Congrats on graduating!
Good luck on timing the freeze right and planting the veggies after the threat is over.
Lilac wine sounds like it could be as good an idea as garlic beer. Lilac room freshener might be a better bet.
Congratulations! I'm so proud of you...that is a real accomplishment.
I planted out my first bed of tomatoes this week, with more to do as I am able. Still moving around rather slowly, though I am improving each day.
Lilac wine doesn't sound so good to me....I think I would harvest them for a table bouquet instead, ha.
TSOTE- unfortunately I had to choose between graduation and going to Empire, Michigan to get an asparagus beer at their annual asparagus festival. Maybe next year.
I picked some lilacs for wine but it is going to take a while to get the 3 1/2 quarts I need. No one is excited by the idea but I just can't resist giving it a try.
Congratulations on your graduation and schooling accomplishments!
I hope you can take some time to relax and enjoy your garden.
Lilac wine? Never heard of making wine from lilacs. I wonder if the lilacs survived all the high winds we had yesterday!
Nice that you can put the books away for a while and be outside digging in the dirt and talking to the flowers and vegetables. Lilac wine? Hmmmmmmm! I'll have to think about that one.
"Asparagus beer - Now twice as delicious as garlic beer, but with half the lilacs!"
